Summary: A legend stated that the great pharaohs of ancient Egypt used their spirit Ka's to fight which were in the shape of monsters. Ka's long lost of the pharaoh locked them away in 7 magical items. In present day Japan Yuugi happends to come across one of these items in the shape of a triangular puzzle. Now, there is a TCG game similar to that the kings played. The game took a darker turn once Yuugi solved the puzzle and unlocked a much darker side to him. Yami Yuugi, a spirit of a pharaoh who resides in Yuugi and helps him duel.
