Chapter Three - Transition

Scene 1

Ethan begins to talk to the audience when a black and white picture of the dojo.

EH= When master said that, he meant it. For me, the next years of my life would be tough, but, yet interesting. I mange to learn Japanese and learn Master’s new style of fighting that he was teaching. (A picture of him at age 13 appears) By the time I was 13, I was at the top of my game. Winning tournaments and along championships for the dojo. Yeah, my life was going great until I turned 18.

End of scene

Scene 2:

Age 18 Title appears.

Ethan continues talk to the audience while the scene focuses on the outside of an Ethan’s room.

EH= Life, at this point, would yet again, embrace another turning point.

The scene begins to focus on Ethan’s room. Ethan Hardy (in the scene) starts to wake up and then Lin yells out something.

LM= Ethan! Get up! You’re going to be late for school!

EH = I’ll be right down. (In his mind) Man, this first day of high school is going to be rough.

Ethan gets ready for school, heads downstairs, grabs a quick pastry, and before he heads out the door, Ethan says this.

EH= Later, Lin.

Lin then yells this to Ethan threw the window.

LM= Don’t forget! You have to meet with Master today! It’s important!

EH= Don’t worry! I know!  I’ll see you there!

While Ethan is running, a mysterious female figure appears in the shadows. She watches Ethan very closely.

End of scene.

Scene 3:

Ethan begins to talk to the audience again while Ethan (in the scene) hid and was peeking on a crowd behind a building.

EH= At this point in my life, I didn’t choose popularity, popularity choose me. He’s the deal: (going into a flashback) I defeated Shirow in a two out of three falls match to win the heart tournament of the dojo, which officially made me the #1 student. I was lucky on the last fall. It ended with me counting his signature move that was a devastating super kick, rolling him up in a pin attempt, and I got the win. Unfortunately, for me, it happened in an arena with thousands of people. Half of those are girls. Not that I’m gay, damn it! It’s just that I feel like my mind was always focus on finishing the task at hand and just training to avenged my father’s murder. But, instead of a quiet walk all the way to somewhere, I get publicity people, girls, and promoters chasing me all the way!

Ethan (in the scene) begins to speak in his mind.

EH (in his mind) = man, when will this end?

Ken appears in the right hand corner of where Ethan was standing.

K= Hey Ethan!

EH= Ken!

Ken walks toward Ethan.

K= Wow, looks like you’re in a jam.

EH= Yeah. Obliviously.

K= Looks like you going to need me again. Aren’t you?

EH= Yup.

K=Well, (putting on a weird mask) Here I go!

Ken jumps outs from the wall, causing a scene, and then the crowd notices it. The crowd eventually ran to get closer to the action, but, Ken quickly lures them away from the school. Ethan begins to speak to the audience.

EH= That was Ken for you thrill seekers. But, all in all, Ken was a friend that I was lucky to have in my life at the time. (In a picture, Ken is studying with Ethan) He helped me out no matter what the situation. Rather it be studying or with ridiculous situations like earlier. End of scene.

Scene 4:

The scene focuses on a classroom. The teacher, Mrs. Valentine, begins to speak to the class.

Mrs. V= Good day, I am Mrs. Valentine, your writing teacher. I’m looking forward to having fun with all of you this semester. Now, to start off, I’m going to choose one student from the class and that person has to stand up and give me a little bio about them. (Looking around the classroom, she notices Ethan just drawing something. The drawing was some sort of “anime” form of a superhero. She points at Ethan and then speaks) You! Stand up!

Ethan puts his pencil down, cleans of his legs and shoulders, stands up and is silent. Mrs. Valentine then speaks to Ethan.

Mrs. V= Well, tell me about yourself. Let’s start by telling me what your name is.

EH= My name is Ethan Hardy. I’m 18 years of age-

Then a kid yells out this.

?= And one of the best fighters in the world!!!

The class laughs and Ethan feels embarrassed, puts his hand on his head and shakes in disgust, and then sits back down. Ethan speaks in his mind.

EH= Damn, can’t fans give me a break even on the first day!? All I want is to have some peace.

End of scene.

Scene 5

Ethan is in the dojo, along with Shirow in line in their traditional stance. Master then speaks to both of them.

M= Students!

Both EH and S= Sir!

M= As probably you know by now, Our dojo has been selected to host the annual battle royal to determined who’s goes on to face the top dojo in the world and their top student. The problem is we can only choose one to go in to the battle. You two are the most skilled and most impressive I’ve ever had. So, you two will have one more match to determined who goes in.

Ethan then speaks to Master

EH= Master, pardon me interrupting, but, can we forget about the match and let Shirow handle this one?

M= Are you questioning me?

EH (Putting his head down) = No, sir.

M= Fine, the match will happen in two weeks. You are dismissed.

All bow and exit.

End of scene.

Scene 6

Ethan and Shirow conversate outside of the dojo at this point.

EH = I guess that’s that.

S (sarcastic) = Of course it is.

Ethan (looking at Shirow) = What’s your problem, Shirow?

S= Nothing. (He’s about to walk off) Do you honestly think that you’re the best here?

EH= You know why I’m here.

S= Don’t give me that crap!

EH = Why are you pissed?

S= (sighs) Forget it.

Shirow walks off.

End of scene.

Scene 7

Ethan and Lin are at the house. Ethan is in his room, doing homework, then, Lin appears and talks to Ethan.

LM (knocks on the side of Ethan’s door) = Hey kid.

EH= Hi Lin. (sighs)

LM= What’s wrong?

EH= (sighs) Me and Shirow are going to fight one more time to see who goes to the battle royal.

LM= That’s good, right?

EH= No. Because of this, Shirow has just developed um… I don’t know how to describe it.

LM= Don’t worry about him.

EH= Yeah, but, today, something about him was very different.      

Ethan starts to close his books and then, the scene focuses on the outside of his window with Ethan turning the lights off.

END OF SCENE

Scene 8

Ethan begins to speak to the audience at this point.

EH= During that time period, I got used to the trials and tribulations of a student. However, they were about to get complex as that night progress.

The scene now focuses on Ethan (in the scene) in his bed, in the dark, talking in his mind about his dilemma with Shirow.

EH ((in his mind) = Damn, why can’t life ever get simple for me? (flashing back to the match he won against Shirow) Ever since that match, everybody thinks I’m some kind of supernatural being. Why can’t they understand that I just want a piece of mind? Just to be free and to have a good life again. (Hears a noise) Huh? (The noise occurs again and then Ethan (gets out of the bed) What’s that sound?

The sound gets louder as he heads toward the glass door. As soon as he opens the glass door, the sound disappears.

EH= Huh? Must have been my imagination.

Then, all of sudden, the mysterious girl appears.

?= Hi!

EH= What the- What are you doing?! Ah!!!!!!

The mysterious then drags Ethan threw a portal.
